Bintulu Museum Briefing Strengthens Corporate Partnerships for Heritage Development

BINTULU, Sept 29, 2025 – The Bintulu Museum Briefing with Corporate Agencies, held at the Promenade Hotel, successfully gathered major corporate players from across Bintulu to explore collaborative efforts in preserving and promoting the region’s historical and cultural heritage.

The event opened with prayers and a welcoming address by Yang Berusaha Encik Wan Ibrahim bin Wan Ali, Secretary of the Bintulu Development Authority (BDA), followed by detailed presentations from the Bintulu Museum Task Force Group (Acquisition & Curatorial). Architect Joseph Sim presented the Bintulu Museum Project, while Dr. Chen Lim shared insights on the gallery concepts and curatorial direction. A lively question-and-answer session followed, fostering constructive dialogue between the organisers and participating corporations.

The afternoon session continued with extended briefings and culminated in a symbolic signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Bintulu Museum and Hock Lee Co., marking the start of a strategic partnership to enrich Bintulu’s historical collections and narratives.

Over 40 corporate and industrial organisations participated in the sessions, including Malaysia LNG, Shell MDS, Petronas Carigali, CMS, Press Metal, PETROS, Samling Plywood, and Iwatani-SIG Industrial Gases, among others. Their involvement signifies the strong corporate commitment to community development and heritage preservation in Bintulu.

The program concluded with afternoon tea and a closing session, reflecting optimism that such collaborations will become a catalyst for strengthening Bintulu’s cultural identity and museum ecosystem, bridging industry, government, and the local community in safeguarding the district’s rich legacy.
